Pretty Preggie Spotlight: Carmel Consignment

If only I had $200 and a flat belly! This silver sequined mini dress by Candela was originally $600.

Some of the racks are organized by name brands...

Jimmy Choo croc print rainboot, size 7. Originally $400. Now $100 at Carmel Consignment

Looking for a Hamilton County experience without the price tag?  Check out Carmel Consignment – and you might say bye-bye to your favorite boutique!

Sights:  From outside, it’s pretty nondescript.  But step inside Carmel Consignment and you’ll bear witness to a fabulous fashion secret for skinny girls, big mamas, handbag-aholics, shoe gluttons and Pretty Preggies!  There is something for every woman and at any price.  You’ll see endless racks of clothing – some sectioned off by labels and themes (Plus, Maternity, Athletic, Formal).  There’s also a shoe section that boast brands from Coach, Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman and more.

What’s in it for Pretty Preggies:  A small maternity section with higher-end brands like Pea in the Pod and Ann Taylor!  It has a nice assortment of dresses, pants, tops and tee-shirts.  I fell in love with a $30 Pea in the Pod maternity peacoat, but I left it hanging on the rack.  Didn’t want to break my $10 per outfit rule on a coat I’d wear only a month.

Carmel Consignment’s Vera Bradley collection.

My $10 H&M snakeskin print dress (Carmel Consignment). I paired it with a $3 Motherhood maternity skirt (Goodwill Avon).

What I bought:  A $10 H&M Divided snakeskin print dress in black and grey that ties beneath my belly.  The back of it shows just enough skin to keep me out of HR.  In fact, I wore the dress as a top to work, pairing it with a $3 Motherhood maternity skirt. (Yep, broke my Pretty Preggie budget by $3 – but I had to get that dress!)

Labels you’ll see (according to website):  Coach,  Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, David Yurman, John Hardy, Prada,  Chanel,  Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Rock & Republic,  Citizens of Humanity,  Cole Hahn, Ann Taylor, J Crew, Coldwater  Creek, J Jill, Jimmy Choo, White House-Black Market, Hollister, American  Eagle, and many, many more!

I fell in love with a $30 Pea in the Pod maternity peacoat, but I left it hanging on the rack.

Price range:  $$-$$$ Mid to High.  I felt the price tags in the maternity section were way too high! $9 for a Gap tee, $20 for a Motherhood dress, and $13 for a pair of capris – not for my money!

Sounds:  If you get your groove on to 80s music, you’ll be at home at Carmel Consignment.  I heard oldies, but goodies by Prince, Mellencamp, Hall & Oates and Chaka Khan – compliments of Sirius satellite radio.

Smells: Clean.  Like Glade Plug-Ins – all over the store.

What makes it special: LAYAWAY and their Frequent Buyer Program.  If you spend $25 or more, you’ll receive a stamp on your Smart Shopper Card.  Fill up the card and you’ll get $25 in free merchandise.

A small maternity section with higher-end brands like Pea in the Pod and Ann Taylor!

How consignment work here:  Carmel Consignment accepts women’s and junior’s clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories, plus fine and fashion jewelry.  When your item(s) sell,  you  make a percentage of the selling price (70% for fine jewelry and 40% for clothing and accessories).  You and Carmel Consignment agree on the price.  The consignment contract runs 90 days.  20 items or more require an appointment.

Helpful hint:  Their sales rack features clothing marked down as much as 75%!
