The Designer Men's Room, 720 East 65th Street (Broad Ripple area) Indianapolis

I’ve got a great husband.   He works hard for his family, and loves me even when I’m acting like a Prickly Preggie.  He is the perfect guy for me and I’m so fortunate to have him in my life.  We rarely clash over anything… except when it comes to his wardrobe.  My man could care less about style.  He abhors GQ Magazine, and could care less about matching his shoes, ties, belts and sometimes even his socks (sorry babe).  Like a lot of guys he hates shopping and especially despises mega department stores.   So, when I found out there was a small, quiet, nonthreatening all men’s consignment store in Indianapolis, I had to check it out – and bring him with me for the journey!

My co-worker, David Macanally - a fan of DMR. Pants by Hart Schaffner & Marx. Jacket and tie are both Brooks Brothers - Under $30 for everything!

DMR is neat, charming, well organized and it keeps a steady stream of clients.

Sights:  Welcome to a Batcave for the man who hates the hassle of big box shopping, but loves having a diverse array of style choices at his fingertips.  Designer Men’s Room appeals directly to a man’s sensibilities from the time he steps over the threshold.  He’ll see jerseys, Fedoras, cowboy boots and a Hugh Hefner smoking jacket  – all the things that say:  Welcome home, leave the wife, peruse in the peace!

Sounds:  What you won’t hear are nagging wives telling their hubbies what to buy, how to dress and what goes with what!   This is a Batcave, and DMR wants to keep it that way!  70s and 80s music from a satellite radio station plays as you shop in peace.

Richard Essex, my co-worker loves The Designer Men's Room. He shows off his Burberry shirt and tie - under $20!

What makes DMR so special:  Not only will they accept clothing, shoes, hats, belts and bags, they also take jewelry, artwork and some vintage clothing.  Call ahead to book a consignment appointment with DMR owner Jeff Newman.

PrettyPreggie’s big takeaway:   This was one of the best shopping experiences I’ve had with my Honeydew since I’ve known him – and it only lasted 45 minutes!  He will definitely be back – and I won’t have to drag him kicking and screaming.

Happy shopping, happy saving!
