My right one and my left one: The two things I’ll miss most about being pregnant

From Ohhhh Mama to Milk Machine: In a matter of weeks, I'll be saying goodbye to these wonderful, lively, perfect preggie boobies and hello to heavy, sore, tigobitties filled with food for a hungry newborn.

As I enter the final stretch of what may surely be my last pregnancy, I think about the three things I’ll miss the most:  chivalry, eating for two and especially the twins that have miraculously grown upon my chest!  In a matter of weeks, I’ll be saying goodbye to these wonderful, lively, perfect preggie boobies and hello to heavy, sore, tigobitties filled with food and nutrients for a hungry newborn.  Whew!  The changes we go through to birth these babies!

Last night, at an IABJ fundraiser mixer, I was reminded of just how much attention preggie breasts can get.  Not only did two guys engage in conversation with my chest instead of my eyes, but three of my girlfriends (all happily married and moms themselves) openly complimented the twins.  They used words and phrases like:  “nice, bouncy, perfect and I miss my preggie boobs!”  One of my friends even touched the right one!  LOL.  I guess she couldn’t believe the transformation!   Believe me, I can’t either.  But unfortunately, these perfect tatas will be short-lived.  After delivery, and a few months of nursing, I’ll be back to B-cup land.

As the saying goes:  The Lord giveth and He taketh away.  I just hope the twins don’t look like ribbons by this time next year.  That’s what happens when you become a milk machine – and I can hardly wait!

Pretty Preggie Beauty Tune-Up: The best spot in Indy for brows and lashes

I left The Eyelash Place feeling fresh-faced and sexy

I rarely wear makeup when I’m knocked up.  The reason?  There’s simply no need.  I think God blesses Preggies with a natural radiance for nine months because He knows we’ve got too many other issues to deal with.  However, because of our exploding hormones and all the prenatal horse pills we must take, our hair often grows faster than we can manage – and it grows everywhere:  On heads, on chins, down there, back there– wherever you can imagine hair, there’s a follicle waiting to push it out.

I got the drama I needed – long, beautiful “Glam” lashes, and touched-up brows that neatly frame my face.

It had been four months since I last waxed my eyebrows. They also now offer lash extensions for $150.

While I can’t control every single strand, I am in command of my brow line.  And it desperately needed a Pretty Preggie tune-up from The Eyelash Place (38 East 39thStreet) – the one place in Indy I trust to tame my wild brows and glam up my measly lashes.

Take a look at my before pictures – from the waiting room.  It had been four months since I last waxed my eyebrows.  They were wild and straggly on the brow bone.  And – check out my lackluster lashes- thin, delicate and in need of some serious drama.

As you can see, I got the drama I needed – long, beautiful “Glam” lashes ($30) and touched-up brows that neatly frame my face ($20).  My visit lasted about an hour because the mother-sister trio who own the salon take their time.  They know the value of customer service and want to make sure you leave with the lashes and brows you envisioned.

The Eyelash Place charges $10 to $25 for brow waxing.  Lash prices range from $20 for individual flares to $300 for mink singles.  Now, that may seem a little pricey if your favorite eyebrow tune-up spot is at a shopping mall kiosk.   But here’s the difference:  The Eyelash Place does not use hair weave glue, they don’t specialize in “Stripper lashes,” and the business is located inside the quiet ambience of a century-old Meridian Kessler home where you won’t be fodder mall-walkers.   They also now offer lash extensions for $150.

I left The Eyelash Place last Friday feeling fresh-faced and sexy (yes, Preggies are allowed to be sexy).  I’ll be back in about three weeks to replace my “Glams.”  Now, I’ve just gotta do something about that those straggly grey hairs in the middle of my forehead!

To you in beauty,
